Library Activities

Lending Services 

 

The library at the headquarters caters to more than 1800 members comprising academic and administrative staff of the university, retired staff, consultants, Ph.D. students and other project staff of the University. Lending service is available to all the permanent staff of the university.

Reprography Services

 

The readers can get the Xerox of interested articles or chapters from the library documents. The service is available free for permanent staff of IGNOU. The service is also available for IGNOU staff and other visitors on nominal charges of Re.1/per page.

Reading and Reference Services

The library has a very good collection of latest reference material comprising encyclopedias, dictionaries, yearbooks, directories, statistical sources, geographical sources etc. Reference and information service is provided to the members as and when requested. The readers can also access to several CD-ROM databases available in computer section of Library. The facility has been extended to IGNOU registered students.

OPAC SERVICE

Institutional Membership Services

 

IGNOU Library has Membership of the following Institutions. The interested members can avail library facilities from these Institutions. In order to get the reference, reading and Lending Services from these libraries, interested users can take the Membership Cards of these Institutions available at the Library Counter. NISCAIR

NISCAIR: NISCAIR is the prime custodian of all information sources of Science and Technology in the country. Facilities available at NISCAIR Bibliometric Services from Web of Science i.e. citation analysis studies, etc. Document Copy Supply Services Translation Services These services are available on payment basis as prescribed by the Institution. The requests should be forwarded through Director of Schools to Library. The website is www.niscair.res.in

NASSDOC

National Social Science Documentation Centre is a Division of the Indian Coucil of Social Science Research (ICSSR) that provides library and information support services to researchers in social sciences, those working in academic institutions, autonomous research organizations, policy making, planning and research units of government departments, business and industry, etc.The services available are: Library and Reference Service Literature Search Service from printed and digital databases, i.e CD-ROMS, floppies, online database etc Compilation of short bibliographies on request iv. Document Delivery Service is provided by procuring books and journals on Inter-library loan or by photocopying the documents The website is www.icssr.org and service form is downloadable. The services are available at nominal fee. The requests should be forwarded through Director of School to Library.

 

DELNET Services

 

Delnet Catalogue

Library is a member of Developing Library Network (DELNET) which provides services like browsing of Union Catalogues, Inter Library Loan and Document Delivery Services. Interested Readers can access the Catalogues of other Libraries through DELNET and request the required books/documents to be procured from these libraries on loan for a limited period. The request for such documents can be submitted at library counter or through request forms available at IGNOU Library web-page.
